Will TB voice work in non 3G areas

I am looking to get this phone, but I hate to have dead areas for voice. I initially thought it 4G would work on all lesser signals, but I read somewhere it will only work in 3G & 4G.
Just wondering because of issues like at my camp, in a boat, driving rural roads, and overseas when have the latest media on my phone isnt necessary just being able to contact someone in an emergency is.
I understand data wouldnt be available. This would make the phone like the ATT iphone service in a way.

Both data and voice are available, in fact it gets simultaneous voice and data over 3G as well as on 4G. I think it does that by using the CDMA2000 band for data and the WCDMA band for voice, but I'm not sure.
In any case, it can get voice and data, even at the same time, over 3G and 4G.

Simultaneous voice and data in 3g and 4g i understand. My question is being able to use voice alone when Im not in a 3G area in just the regular digital network.

if you don't have 3g or 4g coverage you can still get voice calls in 1X...as long as you have a decent signal. although at a much lower quality. it is fully backwards compatible.

Voice and texting do not use the 3G network unless it is for SVDO

I mean no offence, but would they seriously release a phone that wouldn't be able to make calls when it was off the data network?

Thanks, I thought most all phones were fully backwards compatible, until I was reading something this morning and it said it would only work on 3g & 4g, but I know in context most people are concerned with what you mentioned about simultaneous usage.

kptphalkon.. no offense taken, but I dont know all the techy stuff and with the new system coming out I never what issue I will run into.
