Wifi wont turn on >>???

I have a droid x , owned it for about a week. I will admit Im a newb. anyways . rooted the droid yesterday and everything was fine download a couple apps and today when I tried to turn back on my wifi under wifi settings it said error. I did a hard reset , took out the battery and nothing. it did this sunday to me but when i rebooted it worked . called verizon and they are sending me a new phone. just want to make sure it isnt anything I did so I dont mess up this next phone.

Could be the Rom you have flashed but its unlikely

excuse my ignorance but wouldn't a hard reset set it back to original settings. I did have it overclocked for a short period , could that have caused the wifi radio physical damage? I also downloaded wifi tethering but the program said my kernal was not compatible

Depends...... I've done hard resets and the put me back to stock while others still leave me with root.... overclocking shouldn't have caused that problem but overclocking is 100% unstable and unpredictable. It could have been the cause wifi tether I would bet money is not the cause I've used this app on many phones and I have yet to have a problem and that app is very common and there isn't any know problems that would cause wifi to no longer work.

fixed it

well I decided to try the droid x boatloader and install a rom . used a rom from birdman . sure enough after it installed everything is working fine now . now I just have to keep reading and see what else im able to do ., thanks for you input

Send the droid x back that verizon is sending you. The refurbs are.horrible you are better off with your original
