WiFi tether and PS3.

Has anybody been able to successfully tether their Droid 2 to their PS3? I keep getting an error message saying the access point is too weak. I'm using the rooted wireless tether app.

I have the same problem and only have this problem with the ps3. It says it finds my wifi but wont allow for me to connect. What I find strange is that a cousin of mine, I rooted his droid and installed wifi tethering on his device and he is able to use internet through phone for his ps3. What makes mine not work?

PS3 can't connect to ad hoc networks. The work around is to connect a pc to your phone's wifi and the hardline the ps3 to the computer and share connection.

If you're willing to do all sorts of odd things, there is a way to get free infrastructure mode wifi tethering on the droid 2.

If you're willing, here are the instructions:
1) install Fission ROM (well-documented at teamdefuse.com)
2) install fission rom manager (this requires a donation to team defuse; any amount will do, however)
3) using fission rom manager, download the 3G hotspot add-on and the tethering patch. Apply using clockwork, in the order I mentioned, following the add-on instructions on the team defuse site.
4) launch the 3G hotspot app and activate it.
This has been tested to work with a PS3.

Why can't wireless tether for root users broadcast in infrastructure mode? Why can't any other app do that in the market?
