Wifi streaming spotty with "N" router???

Have a netgear "N" wireless router and my laptop connects and streams fine. But my Thunderbolt often skips and and buffers while streaming iheart radio??

Any suggestions?

I've got an N router as well, but mine is D-Link. I don't have any issues, but I usually use 4G when streaming because it's faster
