WidgetLocker +*~+*~+*~+*~+*-- WOW!!!

I bought this app when it first was released an I uninstalled because I would always see the standard lock screen before the widget locker would show up. I'm not sure if its because it was the first version, or I read about the 5 second pause android has implemented, or what. It seems this app has come a long way and I'd like to try it again. Can anyone comment on my previous issue, an if that still exists in these later versions.

okay cool, I think I'm gonna try it again. Seems with the customization, it seems very interesting.

I just downloaded this and I noticed my date on my clock is half shown. The other half is cut off. Also, when I press the home button, it unlocks my phone. I don't want this to happen. Any help?

yeah I figured that was it, but that option for me is grey. I'm not sure why.

Go to Settings and pick Tutorial. Page 3 explains what the home helper is and why you should use it and then allows you to set it as your default home.

okay yeah understood. I just hope when my phones in my pocket an I accidentally hit the power button, I don't also hit the home button. Other then that, this lock screen is amazing! I love the customizable lock sliders, very useful. Looking forward to more features :)

Wait I think I wasn't clear. The Home button CAN be blocked.

However in order to do so WidgetLocker, rather than your Launcher, needs to receive the action first so it can decide if it should block it or not. To do that you need to set the Home Helper as your default home. This will NOT prevent you from using your current Home. WidgetLocker's Home Helper simply gets the Home button action, looks at your settings and the state of the system, and then either discards it or forwards it to your actual Home application (Sense UI, LauncherPro, ADW, whatever).
To setup the Home Helper you can go to Settings and pick Clear Home, then hit the home button and select WLocker Home Helper and make it the default. Then another box popups asking you to chose your actual home (Or it picks for you if you only have the system default installed).

After this you'll see the preference is not grayed out.

awesome! thanks kevin, that worked. keep up the great work!!

Hello Kevin!

Your worst PITA customer is back ;-).
This time, however, I want to signal a bug (I think). Not really a bug, rather an incompatibility.

I have installed HandCent SMS (as many others, I believe). The main reason is that I get a nice pop-up window displaying new SMS; this same window allows for me to compose a quick reply and send it. Here comes the problem.

When the phone is locked, I experience the following:

1) Phone is locked with WidgetLocker.
2) New SMS arrives.
3) I turn on the phone and I have my HandCent Pop-up window displayed (Excellent!)
4) I touch the box to compose a reply.
5) The virtual keyboard pops up.
6) The Virtual keyboard covers the Pop-up window, thus I cannot see what I am writing.

Basically, when Widgetlocker is engaged, the pop-up window does not slide upwards on the screen to make room for my virtual keyboard. It's as if, the lockscreen prevents the Handcent pop-up window from moving upwards.

Finally, I would like to humbly petition once more for landscape compatibility...it's really painful to have to disable the lockscreen when in dock mode or in the car.

Thanks

I've just heard of this recently. I believe I know where the problem lies and how to fix it. I plan to include it in the next update (If it's more complicated it might not make it to the next one, but I will address it).

Finally, I would like to humbly petition once more for landscape compatibility...it's really painful to have to disable the lockscreen when in dock mode or in the car.

I'm thinking I might enable it but make it a manual switch only. So in dock mode, or if the keyboard is pulled out, it's landscape, otherwise it's portrait. And maybe add a custom slider action or menu item to manually switch too. Rotation on Android is pretty slow, and it can easily lead to the application existing twice in memory. And for WidgetLocker, which some people will load with lots of widgets that have large images, that can cause it to hit the application's memory limit.

Just wanted to say... this app has come a long way in just a few weeks. The old issue of having the stock lock screen get in the way is GONE now... never happens to me anymore. I also uninstalled quickdesk the other day... I really don't need it. It's just as convenient to have the back button enabled in WL... then tap power twice, operate my widget(s), then press back button and I'm right back where I was.

For me this thing is virtually bug free now!

Trying to have both WL and Quickdesk is just too much of a pain and it's also a strain on resources (causes launcherpro redraws, etc). I don't miss QD at all.
