The front one is for video chatting. For example, using Skype, Tango, oovoo etc. Like the webcam on your laptop. The rear camera is for taking pictures. There's no such thing as a stupid question.

yeah front facing cameras are of better use for the european consumer since they use the crap out of skype and what not. Americans....meh i dont see the need to have that since its just a gimmick to me. I rarely even use my camera on my phone.
