What should Note 7 owners do next

My problem is what ever phone I get I will be stuck with it for 2 years. Verizon will not give me back my Upgrade. And i can't buy a phone outright right now. They are claiming every phone I pick is an Upgrade from the Note 4 I had. If I go with the Note 5 I will have a year old tech I will be stuck with for 2 years. I will also have to get a flash drive to save all my information and photos. I am one of those people that use the pen a lot for Electronic signatures and Credit card transactions for work. This is a big headache for me.

The reality is this sucks but you are going in this thing with the wrong mindset. You are a customer who bought from them a device that just got recalled, something that is beyond your control.
Here is my suggestion:
Now I am guessing you are not on unlimited data anymore if you upgraded?
1st: DO NOT deal with the in store reps they will just make this worse. For your situation you deal with the phone and escalate your situation to the highest who can deal with this up to the retention department.
Since they do not have a phone you want right now they owe you a refund and your upgrade back. And you need to be upfront that you are willing to leave over this if you do not get them back.
If you can afford to I suggest snagging something like the 5X to hold you over and wait for the phone you want.
I suggested the 5X because you have to be ready with conviction to let them know you will leave if need be.
I know this is a challenge for many (this situation) but it can be overcome. There are tablets on the market with s-pen features for work and more. But if you shoehorn yourself in a corner you will find yourself stuck for 2 yrs with a device you did not want and VZW is still getting paid because you agreed to it. For you there are no devices out there that can meet your need. The note 5 do not have a sd card slot, and the other phones lack a s-pen.
Bro it's time to let the lion out on this situation because being a gentle lamb will get you slaughtered.
I would definitely return full refund and get unlocked phone from like BestBuy where it's cheap and you can pay on BB card over months until you upgrade to what you really want later on

It's a shame, I've really liked the last couple Notes. It was the only other phone I would have gone with other than the Nexus.

I am on the More Everything Family Plan.. I got the phone from a Verizon store by my home. I was told that I can not get my Upgrade back and I must choose from what they have in the store. Had a discussion with the assistant Manager about get my Upgrade back because this is not my fault. Just left the store upset with the Note 7 still in hand. I would get the LG-V20 if it was released. Not in the stores yet. Trying to see if my daughter's friend father still have his Note 4 since he now has a Note 5. That way I can get my Upgrade back.

Ah gotcha ...I just saw one of the other guys here say he was credited back phone and upgrade kept along with taking home Note ...not sure if you've checked account online maybe you get same hopefully....v20 we know some will have it on the 28th but nothing on Verizon yet ...keep on them if anything get on customer service number and escalate ...

Hold that phone Preach2k! So far three Verizon people said that Verizon is giving refund and upgrade back with no need to return the phone. One just stated that he checked his bill and it says zero balance on his N7 and eligible for upgrade.

Sounds like the store is feeding you a load just to try and make you seem like you have no options. Thankfully the people here have been able to prove that wrong.

That's what mine shows. I'm trying to figure out a way to verify they don't expect the device back and Samsung won't kill it.

That is temporary . Only until I pick a phone. The Note 4 thing with my daughter's friend father did not pan out. I am going to hold on to my Note 7 until I find something I like. IPhone 7 is not an option. S7 Edge is to small for my hands. I am leaning towards the LG V20 when it gets released. Need a phone that works with My Moto 36o 2nd Gen.
