What method to use to root?

Rooting help needed - stuck

I been reading and reading and it seems like everyone has their own method to root. It gets confusing very quickly. I am looking to root my Droid X 2.2 version 2.3.15 - its just a week old and I am looking to get rid of the bloatware that is running on it and maybe install a theme to it.

Below are a few methods that I have seen posted.

I have seen this method posted

I also seen this guy that is creating a web site with very nice directions

Then there is also the multiple phones - root / unroot thread .

Thanks !

Do yourself a favor and get ADB running from the android sdk. adb is so useful, that once you get your device connected, you can push files, pull files, root, and recover your X with very little difficulty.

Get the latest drivers USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola, Inc. USA

Get the sdk and follow the instructions to install it! Do not forget to add the PATH variable to your environment:
Android SDK | Android Developers

Detailed SDK install here, only do step 2 if you are not coding. http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html
Amazing walkthru on how to set up ADB here http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/10924-how-adb-windows-made-easy.html

Once you have adb running follow this thread and stop at step 24

obviously, the above is not needed and you can root from the phone, however, as a person you will be much more understanding of the process if you do it the ADB method.

I have succeeded using

I found that from this thread -
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-hacks/90288-cant-seem-root-droid-x-help-please-2.html

I read over what you said Daali - the directions were virtually the same as the method I used. His directions were very clear - so I went that route.

I am now ROOTED !!!

Congrats!!!!

Thanks for your post Daali- reading that thread and comparing notes with the method I used just confirmed I had the right information.

I have started to get rid of bloatware, installed wireless tether and installed titanium backup.

Will play tomorrow more when I get home from work.

Thanks again for your post- it was very helpful to me!
