What could you say about rebellion for general discussion in a research paper?

i'm doing a research paper on susan b anthony and how she rebelled against the gov. and society so i need to say something about rebellion in general for the introduction

"Every now and then a rebellion is needed to keep society from from turning into a mindless puddle of goo." ? (not trying to be a smartass, sorry if it came across that way) ...compare it to what is going on now, some people believe we are heading that way - why? some people believe it's pointless - why? ...i'm just trying to nudge some ideas to help you make a general statement. Passed that, and passed getting too personal on the subject, I don't quite know how one would make a general statement about such a strong subject. (trying to keep personal thoughts out, as apparently that's a no-no from what i understand).

LOL You could always use Star Wars to make a general statement (read between the lines of the movie, and take out the details of the starships, etc..)
