Weird texting issue

So my mom has an X and it intermittently sends weird texts to various people. An example of the messages it sends is:

Has anyone seen this or know the cause of this?

Do you know how to clear data for the app? Settings: applications: manage applications: find messaging, clear data.
If that doesn't work might try a factory data reset, but that's a pain.

Have done a hard reset before. fixed the issue for a while but its doing it again. Ill try clearing data see if it helps.
