Weird battery glitch?

I was minding my business today and doing a little surfing (Droid Forums, no doubt!), when my battery goes dead. No big deal, I thought. So I stick the phone back in my pocket until I get back to my car so I can charge it. When I plugged it in, it booted up as expected but this is when it completely bugged out. It goes into continuous reboot mode and...well, continuously rebooted. Once it was booted up (before the inevitable reboot) the screen indicated that the battery was fully charged. Then...reboot. This went on for about 2 hours, until I finally removed removed the battery. Removing and replacing the battery seemed to, at least, get the battery to charge again. Although after about 5 more hours of charging, the battery never charged past 50%. Defective battery maybe?
