Volume control popping up unexpectedly

When I make or receive a phone call my volume bar for my music pops up. I've never noticed that before. Did I miss it and it always did that? I thought it might be because of the last two app updates (Go Launcher & Dropbox) but I uninstalled them and it's still happening. I tried a battery pull but that didn't help either. Anyone else having this happen? Also my keyboard app got uninstalled somehow. I reinstalled it but I wonder if that is related?

Yes, I busted the phone open. J/K Press the power button and the volume down button at the same time and hold them for about 15 seconds. That does a simulated battery pull.

And so far this morning it didn't do it on my first phone call.

Doesn't happen here, that's weird. Gotta ask the basic questions. Stock or rooted/rom'd?

Are your volume buttons sticky or accidentally being pressed?

Using a third party phone or volume/music app?

The phone is stock. No third party apps either.

Does it actually affect the volume of the call or just pop up? If it just pops up you could live with it or try a couple things.

Try going to settings - apps - all - dialer and erasing data, do the same with phone and phone storage. Reboot and see if it still happens.

If you want to get drastic you could perform a factory reset and see if on complete stock, with no apps if it still happens.

Install apps one by one and see if any affect it. This would be my last resort.

I've had my X for about 6 months and I've never seen that. Strange. It does sort of sound like a setting got accidentally changed somewhere - like it thinks you WANT that to pop up.

It stopped happening. I'll call it a glitch for now. I downloaded Drop Box again and it hasn't come back. I think I'll try a different home launcher. Thanks for all the help everyone.
