Media and Phone volume controls reversed ???

I upgraded to the latest OS on my Verizon Droid as soon as it came out, and since then I've had several issues. Among the weirdest: When I'm in a call and hit the side keys to change the volume, the MEDIA VOLUME screen pops up; when I'm in a game/music and do the same thing, the PHONE VOLUME screen pops us.

Any clues:

PS: Anyone else know how I can instantly toggle my phone volume on or off noiselessly? It's an issue to be in a quiet place and try to turn it off and hear the descending beeps.
