I was trying to install the new Voice Search from Google.
Got the dreaded "installation Unsuccessful" messages
Come here, see thread (in first post) of something similar with Chrome 2 Phone
Do not know what Voice Search apk was called so asked here (Post 1)
Used instructions from first post and information provided in Post 2 and evidently removed Google Search Widget (will want that back later :p)
Complained here using street trash talk wanting more help. (Post 3)
Followed instructions in Post 4 to remove Voice Search as instructed
Got the dreaded "installation Unsuccessful" messages
Came here and went "GAH!" (Post 5)
You asked for more details of my problem. (Post 6)
I give you details! (Post 7)

btw, I do appreciate you continuing to try to help out.

The last one did the trick for me. I opened up an adb shell. Followed the directions

su
sysrw
rm /system/app/VoiceSearch.apk
sysro

did a reboot and bingo it installs.

Thanks pdroid.

I had a backup of my ROM before I did anything today.

I went back and did it step by step, and I got nothing. :(

I had no problem download and installing the latest google Voice Search from the market without deleting the old Voice Search apk. After it installed I did delete the old Voice Search apk in /system/app and moved the new Voice Search apk in /data/app to /system/app

i had to delete 2 apks in /system/app before it would install on my nephews phone, they were voicesearch.apk and VoiceSearch.apk. not sure why there was 2 but either way it worked.

Might have to clear the application cache.

How would I go about this?

i had to delete 2 apks in /system/app before it would install on my nephews phone, they were voicesearch.apk and VoiceSearch.apk. not sure why there was 2 but either way it worked.

No luck, it did not find voicesearch.apk installed

More ideas will be welcome.
