[VIDEO] 10min Root complete Guide

loop.bat did the same thing:(
It seems like my phone loses all communication once I go into recovery.

Did you try to zero out your microSD card? That was the only point in my numerous attempts that made the phone show up as an ADB device in Device Manager.

Not yet. I will try that after everything else fails. It's a full 16gb card and I don't have any of it backed up.

Scratch that. In a strange twist of luck, I just checked the mail and my gfs 16gb card showed up this weekend. So I have her old 2gb to play with.
It does seem like it's a communication issue though. But I will give it a try.

At this point I'm stuck at read/write access problems. I can't delete the CityID.apk, it says Read-only file system.

EDIT: Did you just do a quick format? Doing a quick format never worked for me but I then later tried full format and then it did.

Thanks a LOT for the video. I have not been able to get adb shell in recovery yet. What I am noticing is that android is not showing up in the device manager, it appears that the phone is being recognized as a disk drive. Does that give you any idea what I am doing wrong?

thats normal, you wont have android connecting as anything else until it connects to your phone in recovery mode. when i rooted on winxp computer it couldnt find driver until i got into recovery
Okay I think I get it. When I do go in to recovery The only driver that loads is the one that recognizes the inc as two drives (internal and external storage) Is it just a matter of continuing to try until the device gets recognized with the adb device driver?

correct, just like my video were it gave me an error installing the driver. It wont successfully install itself until you get into adb recovery.

Are you trying to delete with root explorer? If so, don't forget to mount.

Ok found the mass storage for Droid

anyone running win 7 64 bit, give this a try and let me know if it works.... there has to be a way for those of you having trouble to get the proper driver installed easily.

Droid Incredible ROOT - Driver install WIN 7 64 - TRY THIS if your having trouble.
Ok I found the mass storage for droid incredible in recovery mode...however windows 64 system will not let me install the driver you posted, it says "the folder you specified does not contain a driver for your device. If it does contain a driver make sure it is designed to work with windows 64 bit based systems" then of course it won't install it!

Are you on a laptop or desktop?
I have a feeling the built in USB hub that comes with most laptops might be causing us some trouble.
I'm by no means an expert but I'm trying to find a way around this. I have tried mine and my girls Win7 64 bit laptops and I have the same problem on both.
I also tried my older XP laptop and I have the same issue.
It acts like as soon as I put the phone into recovery, it loses all communication.

HTC Sync

I remembered reading a while ago, when I was trying to take screenshots, about modifying a driver file for Windows7.
Installing HTC Incredible Android SDK Drivers |
I tried this and it didn't change anything for me. Maybe give it a shot.
Yes that is why everyone is using the HTC Sync drivers they do work. I get a connect with them on bootloader no problem, but when it switches to recovery I lose it and it goes to mass storage instead...grrrr ;)
