vibrate for notifications

I'm a newbie and can not figure out how to change the settings so that when i get a text the phone simply vibrates. Also, I want a song as my ringtone...possible?? Help please, and thank you!

I think for the vibrate function you'll have to hit the menu button while in the text messaging app to find the option. Also I think you can copy a mp3 to the sdcard then choose it for a ring tone.

What are you using for text? Both the stock and Handsent can be set to vibrate in Settings.

As for using a song; there are several free apps in the Market that will convert an MP3 to a ringtone with the ability to edit the length. I use Rigndroid myself.
