Me Rude?!?! I resemble that remark....I mean resent. I'm only rude to Sammy for releasing the exploding phone, not once, but twice. Sounds like something from that Joke Shop in Harry Potter.....Come get your exploding phone, dungbombs and Nose-biting teacups!!
The safe is a good idea....as long as it's certified fire resistant....oh wait, that's only from fire on the outside of the safe. OK, it won't burn through the safe, but I sure hope you don't have all of your stock and bond certificates in the safe with Sammy's Firebomb.

That didn't read the way I wrote it. You said something about a rude awakening. I was saying "VERY rude awakening".

My apologies for the confusion.

I kinda recall Verizon saying updates for the Galaxy Nexus were going to be quick much like it's GSM variant....

Hopefully updates at the same time as the Google variant will be followed through with.

HA HA! No worries! I've been called way worse than rude. It's funny how we can write something and know perfectly what we mean, but someone else reads it and thinks something totally different. No need to apologize at all. I'm easily confused.

unlocked huh... does this also mean it can be rooted and have the bootloader unlocked? I remember reading something about that before.

I'm guessing Google finally had the courage to tell Verizon how it was going to be, since it seems like they're putting a lot into this device to be successful. I'm sure they referenced the relationship Verizon has with Google and wanted to make sure they get the same treatment to avoid another GNex situation.

Carrier unlocked vs. Bootloader unlocked. I believe only phones bought from Google can be bootloader unlocked.

I still for the life of me can't understand how a carrier can lock a bootloader that tight that hackers can't tap it.

256-bit aes encryption is one way... Seriously God encryption can take longer than the entire history of humanity to break with current computing power... In 10 years current encryption may not be anything, just imagine the encryption that'll be standard then

Heh 2048 quantum encryption,

As for the bootloader being locked... Man that's frustrating, if it's carrier unlocked it should be completely unlocked, probably have to waive warranty, I'd do it myself. I'm actually interested in this device now as I've got an upgrade available.

I want a blue Pixel and Google is sold out...this makes me a little more open to buy from Verizon. Anyone have a good pro/con list for whom I should purchase from?

I haven't seen a good list. Sounds like the devices will be identical, though Verizon's may have a locked bootloader, so if you want to root the device, Google would be the way to go.

Assuming Verizon sticks to this statement & pushes updates at the exact same time as phones bought from Google, I'd say there's no con other than the locked bootloader, if it's actually locked.

Heh 2048 quantum encryption,
Anything that's made by humans can be unmade just as easy. Don't believe the hype. Where there is a will there is always a way.

That 4k encryption was busted 3 years ago. Imagine what they can do today. There is a reason that cellebrite(Israeli data extraction specialists) can decrypt any phone/data/algorithm in the world.

Again if you think you are secure, you are but only until you get attention of the unwanted party.

Will Big Red let you root the phone?o_O
That's the question of the day. No one is absolutely sure whether the bootloader will be unlocked or not. It's carrier unlocked if you buy from them, so you could take it to any carrier, but until actual customers get their hands on actual Verizon devices, we won't know for certain.
