If you must but the Verizon version of the Pixel XL you will want to buy it directly from Best Buy. Best Buy has the best deal on the device. They are offering the device on a payment plan for $31 a month for 24 months which ends up being $26 less. On top of that savings you get a $100 Best Buy gift card and a free Google Chromecast. I personally would not buy this even with all the savings and extras if it ends up only being the Verizon variant as that version will be taking its major updates from Verizon instead of Google.
Keep in mind that you will get a voucher for a free Day Dream VR headset from Google if you pre-order from them. The same does not seem to be offered from Best Buy. If VR is important to you, you will want to go with the unlocked version.
