Verizon Strikes Deal to Carry NFL's RedZone Channel - WSJ.com

The National Football League and Verizon Wireless struck a deal to distribute live games and the league's wildly popular RedZone Channel beginning next season.

The four-year deal between the country's most powerful sports league and the largest U.S. wireless operator by subscribers is valued at $720 million, which covers a rights fee and advertising spending, according to people familiar with the details. It will free fans from their couches on Sunday afternoons by giving them access to live footage of every game, something previously only available through a satellite television package. In addition, subscribers can receive the national game telecast

That will be nice, but I'm sure the cost will be passed along to the consumer with a subscription price. It's a 4 year deal, lets hope there's no strike in 2 seasons as has been discussed.

Jeese Vulc, don't jinx us lol

But yea, Im sure it will be a subscription price, but it has to be lower then directtv.. Im gonna guess $19.95 a month .. just out of the air.. I couldnt read the rest of that article as Im not a subscriber and couldnt find anything else on it, except on TV... so if anyone finds anymore details please post..

Maybe they will have a pay per game option, would be nice..

Hmmmm....I wonder when Verizon plans to launch 4G LTE.....

Won't have anything to do with the Droid when it does get launched.

I was told when i bought the droid that it was the ONLY phone that is 4G LTE ready. That is one reason i got it in the event 4G LTE was to get rolled out in my area. (sure i will get some flames on this post...ie who told you? ect....Verizon told me that and i also emailed motorola and was told it was indeed capable of 4G and only needed the software to drive it. (which will be done OTA after 4G rolls out)

Also i posted when i first became a member here about the droid being N capable wifi and was flamed on that. Anyway, to make a long story short, Motorola also confirmed to me that the droid is N capable but only B and G clients are active due to battery life consumption and that a fix for this will come in the future.

How true is any of it? who friggin' knows. I know its he said she said crap but i believe alot of it.

Check this article. Doesn't look like they will be showing every game like Sunday Ticket. Looks like you get NFL Red Zone which shows live snippets of games along with the Sunday night and Thursday night games. Also says you can listen to live radio broadcasts of any game. All in all, still very cool.

NFL Mobile Kicks Off With Verizon Wireless in April

If this is true it won't be worth it for me... I'll still have to go to the local bar to watch my Lions lose... Oh well, its an excuse to go get drunk :)

Not true. Droid does not support LTE/4G. At least not this version of the Droid.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. Using my phone to watch football would be a last resort. I was lucky to get a majority of the Dolphins' games on TV last year but each time they weren't it was off to Buffalo Wild Wings.

What I don't get is why Verizon FIOS can't get something worked out with DirecTV and the NFL. Verizon promotes DirecTV on the their website where FIOS isn't available. Oh well, maybe someday.

Yea I want the live sunday games too, I personally think that will be added, maybe for an additional cost per game, but who wants snippets? I want live with ability to pause etc etc and to order pizza from the app they come out with...:) I guess Ill see, depending on the price if I think its worth it for snippets..
