Verizon is Dropping Prices on Equipment Protection Plans

As of February 1st, equipment protection plans will be changing and in a good way from what we’re seeing. Total Equipment Coveage (TEC) will be dropping from $7.99 down to $6.99, plus Wireless Phone Protection (WPP) will now be $5.18, which is down from $6.00. Their tablet plans appear to be unchanged even with the Motorola XOOM on the way, but for those of us looking to grab a Thunderbolt, this is good news.

Actually, look a bit closer. The TEC plan has dropped to $6.99; but notice the Extended Warranty is now a $1.81/month upcharge on top of the TEC plan. So the total price has gone up, since the EW was part of the $7.99 TEC. The total cost per month is now $8.80; so it has actually gone up $0.81/month.

Cmon, Martin...you know money talks. For Verizon's sake I do hope the iPhone has record sales if they are doing all this just for that phone...

Just where did you get that? Did I miss something or are you just being a total pessimist?
