Verizon currently offering upgrades while retaining unlimited data!

Based on reports from several sites such as Engadget, the Verizon site and stores are allowing retained unlimited data while upgrading. The stores do not seem to know this is happening, and they are surprised when it comes up that way. No word on whether a glitch, a policy change, or special offer - but has been going on since Friday.

...and now it's gone. A buddy just tried it online and got a popup saying that if he proceeded he'd lose his unlimited data plan. Word is it was a glitch, it is now closed, and some are claiming to have talked to "high ups @ VZW" who say they won't be honoring it. If they don't then you can still return it within 14 days and presumably revert to unlimited. Could be some bad press if they don't honor it, so I bet they will decide it's not worth it to PO a bunch of customers.

The latest is that after shutting off the deal Sunday night, it came back for a while Monday morning. Though VZW is stating that it was an error they will honor it! Anyone getting an upgrade during the glitch will retain their unlimited data. Wonder how many people took advantage of it? I'd bet thousands - and VZW should consider that they just locked in those users for another two years when most of them were at risk of switching carriers to retain unlimited data.

I paid upgrade prices while keeping unlimited data. I upgraded in June and kept unlimited and my GF and other friend upgraded in July and September through the same place and kept unlimited while paying upgrade.

There's a loophole that many AUTHORIZED Verizon 3rd party resellers will sometimes do for their customers (if they trust you) so that they can keep UnLimited data. You need to ask them about it, because I heard they do not do it as frequently anymore. There was a thread on here that discussed it a couple months ago, search my post history.
There are a couple ways to do it, but the EASIEST way involves adding a line, switching the phones to which phones correspond to which lines and then cancelling the lines. I believe one person was able to do it online.

My friend just paid 200 for an s4, no upgrade, no rebate, (however he had to pay tax on the entire retail price of the phone which is normal)
