USB mode

I have read somewhere that when you plug your bionic in that you should get 3 drives, the internal sd the sd and a cd partition that installs software??

When i plug in I always get the 16GB sd and maybe 1 out of 10 times get the internal sd to mount. Is that normal or am i doing something wrong.

Also is there a way to get it so that is does not launch my web browser everytime its plugged in??

Thanks
Chris

My experience is that two drives appear in autoplay windows when I connect my Bionic. I see the MOT drive (8Gb internal memory, a.k.a. sdcard) and my external 16Gb sdcard (a.k.a. sdcard-ext). I think you would only have a third drive if you partitioned the sdcard-ext. I have mine set for USB Mass Storage and both drives come up every time. Are you using the original Bionic usb cable? It can make a difference. Is your desktop browser launching? That should not be happening. Did you install the latest Motorola drivers for the correct 32-bit or 64-bit operating system?

Here is a solution from a post on another forum:

PROBLEM SOLVED

For some reason it seemed as though the internal storage did not want to mount/unmount correctly for whatever reason. Steps to relieve this issue were to perform a battery pull. Remove the SD Card. Re-insert the battery and turn on the phone. Connect the phone to the computer, give it 30 seconds (make sure usb mass storage is selected in notification drop down bar) and it will find the internal storage and mount it so the files can be accessed. After verifying that it successfully mounted and unmounted, disconnect phone from the PC. Reinsert SD Card, phone will recognize SD card, and then from then on forward when you connect the phone to the PC, it should allow you to access both the internal storage (sdcard) and external storage (sdcard-ext). Case closed, lol.

I am having the same issue... when using the usb cable that came with my phone, my sd card will mount but I've only got my internal memory to mount once. I also bought an accessory usb cable from Verizon (made by Samsin) and it would not work with my Bionic, it would only allow charging. It worked fine with the Tech's X2 though.

I'll give the battery pull a try... but it is irritating that my browser launches every time plug in... directing me to Verizon media manager.

To stop this right click the blue motorola icon in your taskbar and then there is an option menu one of them is "when phone connects" you can either set it to launch media manager or do nothing.

Thank you to everyone for the information. I have tried most things mentioned at least twice with no luck. I ended up DOA'ing my phone as i was having data issues as well.
So far the new bionic has shown both sd cards the first time i plugged it in so hopefully it will continue to work that way.

THANKS AGAIN
