Uploading photos from Gallery

This Droid Bionic is my first smart phone and I'm trying to upload pictures to my PC - unsuccessfully. Went through 6 pages of "upload" search items to no avail - maybe my question is too basic. The help tutorial on the phone says to do it with DLNA Servers but doesn't tell me how. When I press DLNA in the Gallery I get "Browsing of folder failed". Is there a tutorial or an app I can use? Just plugging it in to the PC doesn't do anything. Can I upload like I would for a camera, SD card or flash drive or must I email them or use Dropbox, etc?

Just plug the phone into the USB cable and browse to the dcim folder.
