Updating market Apps.

For some reason, this is the process I use to update apps:

  • Open Market
  • Go to the downloads screen.
  • Click on an app
  • click update
  • confirm update
  • repeat for every app that has updates
I'm sure I'm wasting lots of time. There's no way I'm expected to repeat this process over 10+ apps. Despite searching far and wide I don't know where the "Update all at once" button is.

What am I missing? Did Google put it in a secret menu just to screw with me?

I would like to be able to see checkboxes next to each app. Check the ones to update and go.

This would make Market much better.

I don't know why Market decides to show updates. Generally I hear about an update and look myself.

Updating Apps...

when one of my apps get an update, from the seller, I get a notification
in the staus bar, letting me know there is an update to an app I have
installed.

I was just going to say this. I don't bother looking for updates. I just get a notice that there's an update available.

Hmm. I regularly receive notifications that an app has an available update (in my drop down notification drawer). I click on it - follow prompts to okay the update. Never went looking for one yet. I thought this was an automatic setup. I never set up anything myself to receive these notifications - but I can say I get 1-3 almost every day (I have about 60 apps on my Droid).

This morning I got the notification for Google Maps sending down an update. Also Docs to Go.

This is not the normal setup? mike

I wouldn't want all of my apps to update at once. I noticed that more and more apps are being updated with lots of ads to support the developers. I'll stick with ad free apps if i can help it.

But it would be a nice option for those of you who want to do it all at once.

I also get notifications when there are updates available. I have never gone out looking for updates. I had two this morning.

Although funny... I didn't get an update notification about Google Maps...

I didn't get this. Weird.

Its seems hit or miss whether I get a notification in the notification bar for updates. This morning I got a notification for Where, but my last several updates I had to manually check for.

I guess I should clarify, I also get notified by the market of any available updates, however if there are multiple updates, they still need to be installed one at a time (each requiring 4 taps of the screen and some waiting). It would be nice to have a "select all" option.

I think I understand the logic though, in that they have to allow you to see the disclaimer for each app that shows which information the app has access to. Since those requirements could change with the update, they need to show you the message each time. It would still be nice to have a "trusted developers" list that you can customize.

Basically we are already trusting them as I'm sure all do as I - just click okay even though it's claiming the need to access the most personal of all my accounts! ;)

So, in that respect - they should just simplify it as you ask! How many here see the disclaimer and cancel out of an update rather than obliging and giving them the okay to access all they state is needed for the update? Probably very few. :) mike

I didn't either, but I think the reason is because the "notifications" for APP updates are extremely delayed.

Those updates were several days ago if memory serves me correctly.

I check the Market at least once per day for my downloads to see if there are updates, and apply them from there.

It is a pain to have to update each one and then go back in. I tried one time to click another APP update while one was still loading, It looked like it started, but then seem to cause everything to come to a halt. They did both update, but it was way longer than it took to update each one individually.

This may be semi off topic, but is there any way to make an app not receive update notifications in the market? I have Google Voice and no longer use Visual Voicemail, but I still receive the update notifications constantly for visual voicemail. If not, is it possible to just delete the app without rooting?
