Well I know I didn't create it. Just wasn't sure if it was a phone update or maybe a rom update. I run fission rom and want sure where the update.zip came from

I am rooted and ROMed. I was trying to install Squids glass genie, powerbar, you tube mod. I accidently hit ok and installed this instead of his mod which was right next to it on the list. So far I haven't noticed any ill effects. Whew! Fyi.
I noticed a update.zip on my sdcard a couple days have I got my phone. Its been there since I got it. What is it for. Is it something I should try and apply? Or is it something already applied?

When my phone gets stuck on Motorola symbol and wont boot, I can enter stock recovery but not clockwork.
I am curious where I can find a update.zip file that will restore my phone to working condition? When you click the update.zip option of course there is no update.zip, I would really like info on how to accomplish this. Thanks.
I do not think we have one that would work tbh. What you should do to recover is follow any guide to SBF'ing that will accomplish the same thing. You cannot get to clockwork recovery because we cannot touch what is in the /boot/ partition since our bootloader is locked. Really the only use of the stock recovery is to clear /data/ and /cache/
Damn..I was wondering why we couldn't download the zip with sbf in it and rename update.zip. that would save us from having to sbf everytime get stuck on M logo or similar. Guess the only way to get fixed from the m logo is sbf? Wish could get into clockwork recovery when have the m logo problem so could restore backup. That'd be helpful
You can try booting to a custom rom.
For example:
download HeXen
rename to "update" (the .zip is the ext, just make sure its not update.zip.zip)
and see if that works-it did on D1 havent tried it on the global yet
It wont work. Motorola's bootloader expects a certain signature to be matched against each rom. No custom ones have it yet as the bootloader has not been broken.
