unrooting

Ok I rooted my gf's phone so she could tether, and now I want to unroot her for 2.2. I've downloaded DI01package3.tar.md5, but I have no idea what to do with it. I saw ODIN thrown around, but have no idea what that means or how to do it. I have the AndroidSDK and all that jazz installed, so maybe its an acronym that I don't know what it means.

Also, will she loose all of her information? Is it basically wiping all her data and flashing a new os?

Can I just accept the update without unrooting? If not, can I use adb to remove su and busybox then accept root? They ONLY thing done with root was wireless tethering.

I'll be surprised if you can even get the update if your rooted

Use this. I went from Eclair (Verizon Stock 2.1) to Froyo and it works great. I really dont see a reason to use to the Verizon update to Froyo since it will still keep all the Verizone Bloatware on there. This way removes the bloatware, updates to Froyo and keeps the data if you select the one that says will not wipe data, which I did and it works great.

Great write up with east to follow step by step instruction with pretty pictures
