Rooted the X before upgrading to 2.2...

So I hope this is NOT a big deal or cause any problems. If it is, it's too late and hopefully you guys can help me out over here.

My girl gave me her new Droid X to root a few days ago. I used the Droid 2 method of rooting and it was successful on mine. But what she did NOT tell me was, she did not update the phone to 2.2. Her phone was successfully rooted with no problems whatsoever. But...she's on 2.1.

So, what would happen at this point if she update it to 2.2 after root?

Or...

Do I have to back unroot her X first then updated to 2.2?

And...

If I just proceed on with the rooted 2.1 X to 2.2..will she lose the root and I can use the same method to get her rooted again?

You should be fine. At worst be familiar with how to flash the sbf back to stock 2.1 before the ota. Root will be lost with the 2.2 ota but like you said, just re root.
