Hello,
I have been getting this error for about 2 weeks now every time I try to use the Google Maps App.
I have tried un instaling and re installing, updating, everything I can think of, still won't run.
I have "reported" the error to Google, but have not heard anything back yet. Any ideas on what I should do to fix the issue? Any acceptable navagation apps out there that I could use until this one is fixed?

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3
Hardware version: 1535.10
Andriod version: 4.4.2
Maps version: 8.2.0

Have you specifically cleared the cache in the app manager for the maps app? Uninstalling updates and installing again sometimes leaves the old dirty cache behind. Be certain to restart between operations.

I just cleared it again, and reset the device. Still receiving the same error :(

Unfortunately I do not have the answer. I know several people that have been experiencing this (all on different phones). Overall I feel Maps has been going backwards with their updates instead of forward.

It is frustrating for sure...
