Truth or Rumor about Twitroyd

A business acquaintance just posted to me on Twitter telling me that Twitroyd will erase items from your SD card and has the ability to access email attachments. Has anyone out there heard of this? I have been using Twitroid since February and have never had a problem.

If you look at the permissions for Twidroyd, you can see what he's talking about:
The application has access to the following:

•System tools
automatically start at boot, prevent phone from sleeping, read sync settings, read sync statistics
•Network communication
full Internet access, view network state, view Wi-Fi state
•Hardware controls
take pictures, control vibrator
•Your location
coarse (network-based) location, fine (GPS) location
•Phone calls
read phone state and identity
•Storage
modify/delete SD card contents
•Other permissions
com.sec.android.app.sns.permission.RECEIVE_SNS_BROADCAST, com.android.email.permission.READ_ATTACHMENT

I know that it needs access to modify contents on the SD card in order to manage its image cache. Don't know why it requires e-mail permissions though.
