If the output does not match "6991368ee2deaf182048a3ed9d3c0fcb," try again; if it still doesn’t work, seek help from chat.andirc.net in channel #thunderbolt. DO NOT REBOOT.

********* This is where I started having trouble. Everything was perfect up to here.****

Now, reboot your phone and put the custom RUU (PG05IMG.zip) on your SD card. Then flash it. This will upgrade you to release firmware with an S-OFF bootloader.

Next, run this command:

adb reboot bootloader

After it flashes, you will be running release firmware with S-OFF.

I have the winrar zip file sitting at the bottom of my sd card unopened just like I had it in step 4 but step 4 worked fine. I redownloaded the 399mb file to make sure it wasn't corrupted but I'm still stuck. It starts loading. the little line starts going up and makes it to the top then turns brown and makes it to the top also but that's where it ends. it takes me to where I need to hit the power button but it doesn't give me any upgrade options like it did in step 4

Follow these steps and let me know how it goes

Code:
adb push hbooteng.nb0 /data/local/
adb shell
/data/local/busybox md5sum /data/local/hbooteng.nb0

If the output does not match "6991368ee2deaf182048a3ed9d3c0fcb" exactly, stop, delete it, and re-download it. Otherwise, continue.

Code:
dd if=/data/local/hbooteng.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
/data/local/busybox md5sum /dev/block/mmcblk0p18

If the output does not match "6991368ee2deaf182048a3ed9d3c0fcb," try again; if it still doesn’t work, seek help from chat.andirc.net in channel #thunderbolt.
DO NOT REBOOT.

put the custom RUU (PG05IMG.zip) on your SD card. ( in the root )

Code:
adb reboot bootloader
After it flashes, you will be running release firmware with S-OFF.

Then start step 7 if all went well

Hey Rob,
What's the story with this new Kernal upgrade that just came out for overclocking? Easy to install?? HTC Thunderbolt - 2.6.32 kernel source code.
I have 2.6.32.21

you don't want to mess with the source code. Its for developers to create costume roms.

Gotcha thanks.
Just getting into the newness of it. I don't know anything.
I froze a handful of apps on my T-bolt, but that's about it so far.
I was reading and apparently it's too new to worry about the overclocking.
Might be a good idea to underclock it when it's not being used for battery life.

@ Nate....be part of the solution or don't answer.
.

I'll try to remember to not offer any assistance in the future. Glad you finally got through the process. Seems like you missed one step. Darn.

Also install rom manager and do a rom backup to your sdcard

+1! Though I recommend making your backup directly in recovery vs ROM Manager which is unreliable to say the least. :)
