seriously, my phone deletes all my texts every 3 days or more often. i was running stock 2.1 and now i'm on bugless beast v1.0 and they both delete as often. it is so annoying and ridiculous. could motorola/google please fix this? handcent is just as bad if not worse.
dont get me wrong, i love the phone (i'm not one to hate on stuff) but its a simple thing that shouldnt happen. especially this often. i know a good amount of other people have the problem too.

could they please fix this. seriously, i'm just letting out my frustration. twice a week is just unacceptable.

That would definitely frustrate me too. While on stock did you contact Verizon? If so was this with the stock text app?

I'm on handcent and never had my messages vanish but see you tried that app and it happens with that one too. Sorry, no help here other than suggesting you be a pita to Verizon. If it is the phone itself...maybe they will swap it out.

Mine did it a few times and it royally pissed me off so i got "SMS backup and restore" and it backs up my sms each night at 2am. Not a fix per se, but it is a solution.

ya, on stock i had the stock app. i still use stock app, but i've tried handcent. its annoying. i did "report" my force closes with the app, but thats it. i do use a backup app, but i might get an automated one

I've never had 1 message ever deleted. Maybe because of this setting?

I don't know if I can help but in your settings is delete old messages checked? Maybe thats the problem but I'm not sure since its never happened to me.

We need to figure out what's different about your phone or the settings, as I've never had a message deleted either. How many texts a day are we talking about?

Oh, and you might try SMS Backup, it copies your text messages to a folder in your gmail account as they come in. Very handy.

its a known issue with Android, there hasn't been a fix yet. I suggest you use "SMS Backup & Restore" from the market. My messages used to get deleted once a week when a thread reached around 1000+ txts, but since i started backing up my txts and using Handcent i haven't had my txts deleted. Ive got a thread with 2500+ txts and still going strong.

I've run every rom out there and been using my phone since Jan. Never had anything deleted that I didn't delete. Not to be a wise ass but why does everyone want to save their texts? Do y'all go back and re-read them or something?

no, its not my settings, i know its a known issue, but its a very frustrating one. i have over 7000 texts that it deletes. i'm going to get one of the automated backup apps.
i just get annoyed by it sometimes.

Never ever had this happen since owning the Droid. But I don't text a whole lot so maybe that's partly the reason.

I've only lost them when switching roms and forgetting to back them up before hand, but I don't text much, just a few per week. Never had any disappear on their own.

I'm curious if this bug only exists for the very heavy texters, doing a thousand per month, etc. And really, anyone doing that much, and wanting to keep them, really should have an automated backup in place. I know that doesn't resolve the underlying issue...
