Things to do after rooting?

I rooted my droid 2 today using 1 click method and works with windows.dancedroid

Downloaded nandroid back up before rooting. After root, I did full nandroid back up. Do I have to save all back up into pc?

Now what things to do after root? Must have apps?, wanted to do themes, but I don't do that until everything ensure back up and ready or not (fail).

Cyan mod themes looks nice.

After I rooted, I went to Disneyland! ;)

Yeah...not very funny.

I would suggest a few apps:

- Wifi tether in the Market, so you can tether to a computer if you need/want to
- Titanium Backup, so you can back up apps/market connections, freeze apps (shuts them down w/out having to remove them), etc.
- Droid Root Explorer, so you can fully browse/update/modify any files in any location on your D2
- Quick Boot, so you can reboot w/out having to power off and power back on separately
- ROM Manager, so you can create/name/rename/launch backup and restore, install ROMs, etc.
- SetCPU so you can underclock your D2 when the screen is off, or if it gets to high temperatures or very low charge to save battery

- See the 928Droid Black Glass theme - it is the best theme available for the D2 by three or four giant steps... (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/928droid/78456-theme-928droid-black-glass-x-droid-2-a.html) - built to install over stock 2.2.20, and he's said he's going to put out a version for 2.4.0 next week, if you can wait just a bit.

Enjoy...

I would think most of the veterans here are backing data up on their PC as well as on SD; from what I understand so far the backup images you store on your phone's internal from Nandroid or CW are intended as a safety net to fall back on once you start loading custom themes and updates, etc.

I'm not sure that a backup img on your PC would be of any immediate use if you ever get stuck w/ a boot-looping or 'bricked' phone. There s/b several good safety nets you can set up so that flashing from the PC is a last resort, but I would rec you wait on any risky tweaks until someone who knows more than I chimes in, just to be safe.

Personally I'm in a wait-and-see-and-read mode on the custom themes and all that, should get interesting once that bootloader has its skull cracked open.

*EDIT- Thanks Redflea ! *

Thanks all!

Wifi seem not to work right. non of my laptop or device weren't able to connect. I will find out this issues.

Again thanks for reply.

Which program did you use? I use Barnacle and it is working flawlessly. One important note with it is that when the WiFi is first turned on, it only broadcasts the ad-hoc network for a few seconds. Try hitting the 'Associate' button again and immediately refresh the networks list on your computer.

The one came with issues is "Wireless tether". I have gotten it from the in phone market.

I have learned this the hard way. Make sure your wifi is turned on on the phone, otherwise no other devices will connect.

I have SetCpu which is great, Root Explorer, CacheCleaner, Cachemate, and AdFree, in addition to Titanium Backup.

The best thing you can possibly do with root is deodex and theme. I have the NexTheme on my phone right now and it's awesome. I rooted my girlfriend's Droid X with the OTA 2.2 and themed her with PinkLife and she's in love with her phone now. :)
