Themed apps on non rooted thunderbolt?

This is probably a noob question, but is it possible to install themed apps, such as launcher pro, on a non rooted phone?

I use ADW now on mine. However, I seem to have lost the ability to use the skins. Is there a way I can still access them?

As long as the themed application is signed then it will install like any other application, just make sure unknown sources is checked in your settings menu -
