Theme Question...

In order to apply themes to the Android OS, do you need root access?

I would just love to have a black status bar.

You would with the exceptions of certain launcher themes such as aHome and what not but I believe they don't customize the status bar.

Yep, need root access. Status bar is in framework-res.apk, a system file.

If you install launcher pro you can hide the status bar altogether on droid. And pull it up with menu button.don't know if it will work the same on x.worth a shot it is free. I get my x after the 23...yay!
