I came across this today. What I find interesting is: how many of these companies I never heard of.

What didn't surprise me is:

#
2 Apple
3 Alibaba
4 Google

Netflix at number 30, Kickstarter 33, Samsung 41.

I'm not convinced their reasoning for their choices is all that sound. The rankings could be soundly debated forever.

I find it odd that Warby ranked first. It is even more odd that the reasoning behind Apple's number two ranking is that they make a lot of money. Surely many of the companies ranked below them are far more innovative by a long shot.

Having read some of the comments here before clicking the link, I may have already had my mind made up before really looking into it.

I don't really know how you can quantify innovation. Number of people who've been impacted or adopted the idea(s) you innovated? Seems to me that a list like this is great for just telling who the 50 most innovative are, but I don't get the ranking system at all.

I actually read through quite a few of those and I don't doubt that those companies are innovative but I do question the rankings, big time. It doesn't say anywhere what the criteria was or who was involved in making those decisions.
