The Pestilent Pentile Display Discussion!!!

I have 20/20 vision also, but the X2 screen at the Verizon store looked poor to me. Especially when I put my X side by side.

I really hate to be saying this, but man..... the X2 screen is pretty bad. I just came from the VZW store, and I went around the store and compared every Android device display to my D1's. I pulled up the same web page on every one, and held it side by side with my own. All at full brightness. In my opinion, NONE of them were better... or even equal.

Some were definitely brighter, or more saturated. Overall though, EVERY display had more pixelization than my D1... which has none!!

The X2 is actually pretty bad. I was kind of surprised. Pixelization was not only visible at a viewing distance of 12 - 18", but was a little distracting. I'm not saying I couldn't get used to it, but it was very obvious (and I'm not sure I want to get used to it). It was definitely the least appealing display in the store IMHO.

Displays I compared were:

Dinc2
Fascinate
Charge
Revo
Tbolt
D2
D2G
DX
DX2

I would put the worst as the DX2, and the best as the Dinc2, or Fascinate.

Just my opinion, but I was a little disappointed. I wish they would've had a D3 to compare the newest pentile screen. I'll go back when it's in stores.

Funny thing is, when the X, Fascinate, Nexus or any other previous Android phone came out, I can't remember any of them having so many people agree that their screens were terrible.

Even if you don't have a problem with the screen, how can so many other people be wrong?

Oh yeah, forgot the X, that should be up there as one of the best!

Honestly, I've never done a side by side comparison like I did today. Most of them aren't bad at all... just side by side they don't look as good as the D1.

Again, only my opinion though. I'm sure others feel differently. Bottom line is personal preference I guess :-)

When the Incredible and Galaxy S 1 line hit the US...there were plenty of LCD vs. Amoled debates going on last year. Same thing thats going on now went on last year.

Some ppl noticed Pentile back then...but it wasnt so many ppl that there were mass returns of the phones. I expect and see the same thing happening this year too. Ppl noticing pixels wont be so wide spread or most wont notice enough to care.

It didnt hurt sales of those phones either. So like last year ppl noticing pixels wont be so wide spread or most wont notice enough to care.

Droid 3's screen seems to be just fine(keep in mind I'm very nit picky with pixels.. I don't know why, I just hate lowering my standards when I can have better. I hate watching TV in SD for example. Unless it's a classic show and not in HD, it's not getting watched. DVD vs Blu Ray.. well, I either use blu ray or netflix). Much better then my OG Droid, and even a lot better the DX2 screen my brother used to have but returned. So, I guess it depends? I'll lol if Bionics screen is just as bad(if it has pentile?).. all the hype just for everyone to be let down by that.

That would honestly suck, though, considering so many people have high hopes for it.
