Text =/= Vibrate

For some odd reason, when I turn my volume all the way down (which I do on a regular basis due to school and such), upon receiving a text message, my phone does not vibrate. It does vibrate in an application or when someone is calling, however. why is this?

also check your sound section in the settings and make sure vibrate is not set to never.

Oh ok. I am so used to that setting being there by default for other phones, I assumed it was not working. Thanks.

Its there any way for texts to vibrate on silent but not when the sound is on? if you select vibrate only on silent in general settings, that makes calls work right but texts seem to be either vibrate or don't all the time.
