Text message problems

Alright guys I need some quick help. As of lastnight after I went to sleep somewhere between midnight and 3am something happened and now I can't receive text messages. I can send them but can't receive them. Called VZW and u know how that goes, they want u to wipe ur phone anytime there's a issue. I currently have CM7 on it since black Friday, everything has been working fine and whatever happened, happened while I was sleeping. I know I didn't accidentally mess anything up. I'm kinda new to the root world so don't know common problems or even if this is one. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you...

I had the same thing happen on my D1 once.. I could send and my recipients would get them but I wouldn't get any texts. Seemed to happen overnight without me messing with any settings.... Weird. Anyway, I had to do a wipe data/cache through Recovery and then reflash my ROM... Worked great after that..

Thanks for the reply, um idk how to do any of that lol. That's the issue, my friend rooted my phone for me and put all this on here. I'm sure step by step I could do it. Like I said I can send sms, I can receive mms but can't receive any sms. I would do what u said but don't really know how :(

Okay, I'll try to walk you through it... It's been a while since I did this but this should work for you...

Power off your phone
Slide open your physical keyboard
Hold down X as you power the phone back on - hold X until you see the Motorola symbol - then let go of the X and power button
You should see a screen with a yellow android with an exclamation point in the center - this is the "Recovery Menu".. the menu you see should read:
"reboot system now"
"wipe data/factory reset"
"wipe cache partition"
"mount options"
"backup/restore"
"install"

Use the volume keys on your phone to scroll down to "backup/restore" and use the camera button to select
Use the camera button to select "Simple Nandroid Backup"
You should see a gray progress bar at the bottom of the screen and the phone will go through it's processes of backing up - you'll want to do this in case anything bad happens
Once it's done, press the power button once to get back to the main Recovery Menu

Use the volume keys to scroll up to "wipe data/factory reset" and push the camera button to select
A confirmation screen comes up that says "Confirm wipe of all user data? THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE."
Use the volume screen to scroll down to "Yes - delete all user data" - use camera button to confirm
Once that's finished, use the power button to get back to the main Recovery Menu and scroll down to "wipe cache partition" - use camera button to select
Once that's finished, scroll down to "install" - use camera button to select
On this menu, scroll down to "Allow update.zip Installation"- use the camera button to select - the screen will flicker and appear to do nothing - that's okay..
Then scroll to "Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)" and use the camera button to select
It will load the ROM you have installed on your SD card at this point... may take a few minutes....
Once it's finished, back all the way out of the menus with the power button until your back on your main Recovery Menu screen
Scroll up to "reboot system now" - use the camera button once more to select this option
The phone should reboot itself now..
Wait for it to power up and you'll have to go through the whole set up process with your accounts and what not like when you first set up the phone - it's pretty self explanatory and the on screen guide will walk you through it..
Try it and let me know how it worked out for you! :)

Alright man thanks for ur post, I'm currently at work now but when I get some time ima read and write all this down and do it. My only question is, idk if I have anything backed up or whatever, don't I have to have a backup?

First step he have you was the "simple nandroid" option. This will be the backup of the ROM. However, apps should be saved as well. I suggest Titanium Backup, as you can restore app data as well. Never restore System Data on a new ROM, or a clean install.

Also, you said you had Cyanogen on phone. You may also have a custom recovery then, so after powering down and powering up while holding the letter "x" on the keyboard, you will not see the triangle and exclamation mark. Choices are similar, though. If you need more help, ask away! I do! (And I have this phone since release day!)
