Text message notification app?

When I first purchased my Inc2, I read about an app that basically everyone has that will alert you somehow on the screen that you have text and emails without you having to press the top button to wake up the phone first. For the life of me, I cannot find it now. I have searched and searched.

Does the inc2 have an led indicator? That's what I use rather than turning the screen on.

Hopefully someone with an inc2 will chime in but in the upper right hand corner of your screen on the black part which surrounds the actual screen.. there may be an led indicator. For the DROID and DROID 3 it blinks green if you have a text or missed call.

I do have a little dot, but I thought that was for the camera. I'll have to RTFM and check it out... :-D

The led is green and in the same location as the orange light that comes on while charging your phone. It will flash green for missed calls, emails, and text messages. The texting app you are looking for is either handcent or go SMS. Both have the pop up feature. I use handcent and really like it. My wife used to use go SMS and she now uses handcent. She has the Dinc2 as well.

I use handcent also and really like it but it sounded like the OP was looking for something that would pop up without having to power the screen on and handcent will not do that.

Yes, if I have to power up my screen, there are indicators on the top of the screen that tell me if I have text or voicemail or updates. If there was an app that would simply make the LED blink without you having to touch your phone, how cool would that be?
Thanks for the replies! :-)

I have a Droid Pro that I just recently got and for some reason when I get a text it only vibrates but yet when I get an email and other stuff the tone I set goes off. Is there something special I have to do to get an alert tone for my text messages? I hope someone can help me cause its driving me nuts!:icon_eek:

The LED isn't customizable though, so don't go buy any apps that can customize it. They won't work

Sounds like ringtone notifications are turned off in the text messaging app. Check you settings in that app. Notifications should be checked and a ringtone or system default selected. These settings override the phone defaults.
There are a lot of free volume apps (Volume Ace Free, Volume Master Free, Total Volume) but these allow you to adjust the phone volumes, not the settings of individual apps so they may not help in this case.
