Has anyone heard anything about tethering for the Droid? (official or otherwise)

Hmm.. good question! I haven't heard anything yet, but a feature that I would love to see.

I'm mad that AT&T still has not opened tethering up on the iPhone..

Tethering will be available although I'm not sure of how to go about doing it.

Any idea if that will be included in the data plan or require something else?

Usually, and this IS verizon so i'm quite sure they will still do it this way on this phone. But tethering costed an extra i think 30 dollars, but some people were questioning the ability of this phone to do MiFi, so of that is the case, this phone will rock socks off it's competitors.

i doubt it will do mifi, as they are making $50 or something a month on those that bought it. and i thought adding the tethering thing to a verizon smartphone was $15 per month, but i could be wrong.. maybe it is different for BBs?

I was merely saying that because there was a spec sheet somewhere off one of the sites that listed adhoc but it was disabled. Seeming that it might in the future be able to do such thing. Doesn't mean they can't charge 50 bucks or whatever it is to have it enabled on the droid either. Just makes it to where you don't need 2 devices to do the job that 1 could do.

that would be cool, for sure.. i hadn't even thought of using it for mifi before you said anything, but it sounds like a fantastic idea!

Can the Droid be Tethered?

Can the Droid be tethered to a notebook for internet access?

The Moto Droid will not be compatible with Mobile Broadband Connect at this time. So -- no tethering.

what? lame. ban. j/k how do you know? if you don't mind me asking...

Because I went through training this week and in our training materials it said that it is not compatible with Mobile Broadband Connect.

So I'm assuming no support for it yet, but hopefully it will be later down the road if it receives support for VZ Access Manager.
