I am trying to use Tasker to silence my emails at night but I am having no luck. I still want to hear texts and phone calls. Can anyone shed some light on how or even if Tasker can do this?

Might help to post exactly what you've tried if you need assistance. Tasker can definitely do this. Have you read its documentation and looked at sample profiles?
