T-Mobile Invites to a Big Press Event on July 10; Teases 'boldest moves yet'

It looks like T-Mobile isn't finished with big announcements designed to try to shake up the industry. Not too long ago, T-Mo announced their new Uncarrier pricing plan which basically does away with carrier contracts with them. In some ways their new plans aren't much different because you are basically financing your phone at 0% interest over 20 months, but for the most part their fresh new take on the carrier-customer relationship offers a more affordable alternative. This did a pretty good job of shaking things up and getting folks to think about how they want to pay for their cell phone service.

Apparently, this wasn't the only trick they had up their sleeves. T-Mobile just sent out some invitations to a new press event they will be holding on July 10th. In their invitation they promise their "boldest moves yet," which is a bold statement in an of itself. The invite doesn't really offer much in the way of hints as to what they may be revealing, but because of the plurality of the wording, we can surmise they have more than one thing to announce.

We haven't really heard any hints or tidbits about this yet, so there really isn't much to go on. It could be something as simple as the announcement of some new phones, or it could be some new policy shifts. We do know that the Sony Xperia Z is set to launch on July 17th, so it could be something related to that. We will stop speculating for now and leave that in your capable hands. What do you guys think T-Mo might announce on July 10th?

I'm quite interested. My wife just signed up with TMobile a couple days ago and I will be coming to them too when my ATT contract ends. We don't have their LTE service, but their HSPA is around 6-8 down and 1-2 up and thats plenty IMO for a cell phone. My wife had Verizon with LTE service and hasn't noticed any slowness on TMobile.

unless it is about them expanding coverage, the news will intrigue people but not enough to make them leave big red or even big blue. I like what t-mobile is doing and am rooting for their success in hopes it change the landscape of cellular contracts, but the reason many haven't done more than look is obvious (coverage).

After 13 years with verizon I jumped ship. Best decision ever.... im so pleased with tmobile and I cant wait to see what this bold move is all about.

Here's a thought, what if part of the announcement was to introduce T-Mobile's version of the Motorola X Phone. That would be Bold.

3 people have mentioned in this thread they left or are leaving VZW and ATT for TMoby.
It certainly IS working. In large metro areas, Tmoby coverage is more then "just good enough".
If my job didn't pay for my phone, I would not be on VZW either.

A lot of people are talking about it but few actually are jumping ship. If they continue on the positive path they are on I think you will see more people jump ship when their contracts are up. They don't have quite the coverage that I'm looking for yet..... but soon.....!

When my contracts up, or when Verizon starts throttling my data (breaks my contract), I'll be leaving for T-Mobile.
