Bit of an old thread I know but I need to tell you that syncing of notes works perfectly well on Exchange 2003.
When I had my iphone, I used a program call IMexchange which synced note and tasks. Bloody good job it did too. Shame there is no such program for Android.
There was NO software required on the client PC, it synced over the air using activesync.
