sync issue

Anytime I turn on autosync, the phone gets stuck syncing forever and drains battery fast. I unchecked everything in the sync menu(facebook and gmail) but the phone still shows sync logo. I cannot find the offending sync program. It sucks cause without sync on, I get no notifications of messages. Wondering if there is a fix anywhere?

Try this:

go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > menu > Filter > All > Gmail Storage > Clear data
