Switching from LG Vortex to Droid X

First time posting here so be gentle please, as this is a whole new world for me.

Just curious as to how easy it is to activate my new droid x and get all the pictures/videos off my vortex onto the droid? Anything I should be aware of before doing this? And will I need to reboot (or doing anything else) to the droid once the data is on there from my old phone or will the droid automatically reboot (or do what it needs to do)? If there is already a link to this topic on the forums, please let me know.

Can you transfer your sim card to a computer? Then you just drag and drop it on the SD card of your X.

Or make sure you have everything loaded over to Verizon's Backup Assistant. I'm not certain if that will take pics but I think it might.
