Strange symbol in notification bar

There is a symbol that I have never seen before on my Droid. It is right next to the 3G indicator, and looks like a bell or hat on it's side. It is not the volume/vibrate/silent indicator. I have not been able to find it in the manual. Anyone know what it is?

After looking at it again, it is the same icon on the slider to put the phone on silent on the lock screen.

I tried making a call, and the speaker icon was not illuminated, but the small icon in the bar went away...then the phone rebooted itself.

can you take a picture of it? or if your phone is rooted use ShootMe to take a picture of your phone's screen

It is the speaker phone icon. Sometime it gets stuck there especially when the bluetooth speaker is used. Place a call, enable the speaker phone and the disable it, it will disappear
