Ringer volume changes at random?

Love my Droid X except for one thing.. my ringer volume changes constantly through the day.. I will set it on full ringer volume... and in an hour or so it will be vibrating an alert or an incoming call... no ringer at all.. like I have it in silent mode. I will check the volume & it indicates that it is at full .. but have to press the side volume key till I hear the chirp ..indicating full volume.. then it works fine for a while in the ringer mode... but will revert to the silent mode again without my prompting. It is either at full volume or silent.. never in-between.. like a gremlin is messing with my phone.. an annoyance for sure. Any thoughts?

are you accidentally hitting the volume button? MC Ringlock fixed that problem for me, awesome app.
