Stopping Droid 2.1 update pop-up

i just recently rooted and made and nandroid backup and installed a custom rom but i keep on get the verizon thing wanting to update what do i need to do to stop it?

Just allow it to try to install and run its course. When the phone reboots itself it will go into sprecovery instead of stock recovery and sprecovery will do its thing and block the update so it will fail BUT your phone now thinks that its currently updated and wont bother you anymore.
