sticky situation, to unroot

Ok, I have the Z4root sitting on my sd card just waiting to be let loose to the app drawer. My question is, what is the SOP to unroot the Z4? I just want to make sure I understand what I'm getting into. Plus I understand once I do root I have to back up the phone in case anything goes wrong once the roming starts.

That is correct you do have to make a backup before doing any roms. Well you dont have to but if something goes wrong then you dont have a backup to go to.

I've updated to .340 and now ima thinking z4 won't work

I am not 100% sure about that...... The root guides I have seen from .340 all involves a downgrade. You should be able to check there site and it should tell you.

Z4 works great on the .340 release. I am currently rooted via z4 on the .340 leak.
