Speaker Phone

Volume seems to be lower on this speakerphone then the d1. Besides turning up volume to full, any other ideas? Or is volume generally on low side vs the d1?

The D1 had a huge rear speaker grille, and thus, nice full sound.

I've found that putting the droid up against a surface helps get the sound flipped around back towards your ears.

Other than that, yeah a little light in the britches.

I saw an app in the market that claimed to "clean out" your speaker by playing at loud sound to blow the dirt and what not out of it. I haven't tried it but just an fyi for ya.

Uncheck Voice Privacy

I just switched from the original Droid to the Droid 4 and had the same problem. I found that unchecking Voice Privacy seems to help.

On the Home screen tap the Menu button > Settings > Call Settings > Down at the bottom "uncheck" Voice Privacy.

But what does voice privacy do? Dont want to take away something thats important.

I heard it was additional encryption.
Can't imagine that having an effect on volume. Turning it off may reduce load on CPU, and save some battery.
My calls don't need that much privacy: I don't work for the FBI or CIA. Lol.

Seems like a weird feature

The "voice privacy" setting might have been more applicable to non-CDMA phones in earlier days.
